The ancient Ayurvedic system of medicine hails from the Indian subcontinent and is regarded by researchers worldwide as “The Science of Life.” (Ayu = Life, Veda = Science), its body of knowledge dates back more than 5000 years. It originates from the ancient Sanskrit books known as the Vedas and was transmitted orally from master practitioners to their students over thousands of years.
The preventive objective of Ayurveda is,“Swasthasya Swaasthya Rakshanam”. This means to preserve the health of a healthy person. And the curative objective is Aaturasya Vikara Prashamanam. This means to cure the disease of a diseased.
The core principles of Ayurveda include holistic health and wellbeing, which are based on maintaining a perfect balance of one’s food, lifestyle, mindset, spiritual activities, and daily herb usage. When the body’s energies are in harmony and balance, body will be more equipped to fight against the diseases.
Health according to Ayurveda
“Human body where all three doshas ( Vata, Pitta and Kapha) are in balance, whose appetite and digestion are in balance ,whose seven body tissues (Seven dhatus: rasa, rakta, mamsa, meda, majja, asthi and shukra) are functioning normally , whose malas (urine, feces and sweat) are eliminated properly and whose spirit, senses and mind remain full of bliss is considered to be healthy”.
